  11. This program is freeware so you are not obliged to give me anything
  12. for its use. However if you use it and would like to see future
  13. upgrades of it send me an e-mail to let me know that you have found
  14. it usefull.

  16. Features:

  18. This program allows you to protect your HD from non authorised persons
  19. by using a 4 digit password. The program lets you create your own
  20. password which the computer will ask you when you try to boot your
  21. computer. The program uses a nice Graphical User Interface to make
  22. your system look more professional.

  24. Installation & Usage:

  26. To install it on your HD copy the 2 executables to the C: drawer on
  27. your HD. Then run the CreatePassWD executable by typing its name at
  28. the CLI or double klicking on its icon and then pressing the Return
  29. key (Note that none of the executables takes any parameters from the
  30. CLI). This will open a window on your WB where you can enter a 4 digit
  31. number. By Clicking on the OK button a password file will be created
  32. in the S: drawer of your HD which contains the 4 digit number in encrypted
  33. format. Next place this line somewhere in your S:Startup-Sequence:

  37. Upon Bootup a window will appear asking you to enter the 4 digit number
  38. for identification which you can enter by clicking on the Cycle gadgets.
  39. When you are ready click on the OK button.

  41. If you enter the Password correctly the computer will proceed with booting
  42. otherwise it will reset your machine.

  44. Limitations:
  45. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  46. Up to now only a 4 digit number can be used even though the CreatePassWD
  47. program can accept more. This is because in the ReadPassWD program I
  48. could fit only 4 Cycle Gadgets. This will be increased in future releases.

  50. Note that if you enter a greater than 4 digit number in the CreatePassWD
  51. program the password file created will contain the full number entered
  52. and thus would be unusable. So enter only 4 digit numbers when creating
  53. the password file.

  55. Important Notes:
  56. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  57. 1) The program needs Kickstart 2.0+ to work.
  58.  
  59. 2) If you happen to forget your password you should keep the 2 mouse buttons
  60.    pressed after you reset your machine and then choose the Boot with No Startup
  61.    icon. This will give you a CLI window where you can call the CreatePassWD
  62.    program to alter the existing password.

  64. 3) Also note that you can protect the Password file created from deletion
  65.    by unauthorised persons by using the dos command Protect. This can be
  66.    done by entering this at the CLI:
